Almost twenty years ago Brueggemann published two slim volumes on 1 and 2 Kings, volumes intended to assist those who preach from these books. Here, in this new, much larger volume, he has the same goal: to make these texts come alive for the contemporary Christian world. And this he does. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find any other contemporary Scripture scholar who is more consistently interesting, inspiring, and challenging than Brueggemann. (MTN)
