This is not a collection of essays or four separately authored pieces of a book. It is a theological introduction to every type of literature within the Old Testament (covering most specific books of the OT). While maintaining its primary focus throughout on theological issues and concerns — on Israel’s faith story — this volume is informed by both historical and canonical perspectives. Though various of the four authors (including Terence Fretheim and David L Peterson) wrote the first draft of the different sections, all four authors assume responsibility for the whole.
